Podcast worth listening to- in this episode, Tim Ferriss details how to heal from trauma and shares his story. Tim has one of the most popular podcasts and is a multi-time NYT bestselling author. Sharing his story normalizes the healing process. If you are hurting or have been hurt, give it a listen. You are not alone :) Even if you don’t listen, there is a tome of resources on the page that’s at least worth a skim. 🎧

One of my favorite resources from the episode is IFS, Internal Family Systems therapy. If you’re familiar with terms like “parts work,” IFS will make sense. I love how IFS acknowledges and embrace the idea that we humans contain multitudes. We aren’t this or that. We are this and that, and many other things simultaneously interacting in the dance party that is us as individuals. If you ever feel trapped and think that you have to be a certain way but another part of you wants to be another way, you’re not crazy! This is perfectly normal, and IFS works to integrate the various parts inside of you. 👩‍👩‍👧‍👧

⛑Part of my quest is to normalize healing and self-soothing behaviors. Positive Psychology was a great collective first step in studying what we want to occur rather than preventing what we don’t want to occur. We all cope and emotionally regulate somehow. As DFW says, Because here’s something else that’s weird but true: in the day-to day trenches of adult life, there is actually no such thing as atheism. There is no such thing as not worshipping. Everybody worships. The only choice we get is what to worship.

Question to ponder- what are you worshipping? 🙏

Once you have a good grasp of that, you’ll double down or ponder other things to worship. Go with your gut, you likely already know what you need and what makes you well. If you’re lost, think of the people you admire most. Copy them. To learn what you’re worshipping, use any of the resources listed in Episode 61.
