DigitallyDownloaded.net Newsletter - June 19, 2022
By Matt S - Editor-in-Chief • Issue #70 • View online
It’s magazine week! My favourite week every month, where we get to share a new issue of the Dee Dee Zine. This month’s issue features two new writers, features on everything from anime and literature, to ancient Haniwa statues, and so much more. It’s such a major part of what we do at DDNet, and I hope you love this month’s issue.
Otherwise, we’re now starting to play catch-up on everything we missed because the not-E3 game shows and presentations have occupied so much of our mindspace over the last few weeks. Expect a whole lot of game reviews next week, too.
And don’t forget to check out the words of our friends in the independent media! Being an indie games writer is a tough gig, and this feature is our little bit to try and amplify the very best writers out there. There’s all kinds of interviews, reviews and other coverage for you to enjoy by scrolling down (after reading the Dee Dee Zine, of course!)
Have a wonderful weekend, everyone, and thank you as always for being part of DDNet!

The June Issue Of The Dee Dee Zine Is Live!
We have an absolutely amazing issue of the Dee Dee Zine for your reading pleasure this month - 56 pages jam-packed with the best in Japanese arts, games, and culture.
This month in the magazine:
  • Haniwa, Japan’s ancient statues, and the role they play in video games.
  • Loneliness in Japanese literature - a 100-year trend.
  • The most comfortable of all anime genres.
  • Games about making art.
  • Lessons from making a visual novel.
  • So much more!
We also have plenty of puzzles - a crossword to test your knowledge of all things Japan, a sudoku and a nonogram. There’s a comic and story featuring Dee Dee & her friends, as well as a summary of the upcoming games for the month, photography, and quotes from legends of Japanese art.
Remember, this magazine is given to Patreon backers in return for their support. As little as $1/month will secure your copy of each month’s issue… and $1 for a 56-page magazine jam-packed with features about Japanese art and culture is a pretty good deal, no?
Did you enjoy this issue?
