Design Sprint Newsletter
Hey there!
I am super excited to announce that my new book Make Time (which I’ve been hinting about for a while) is at last, finally, officially available for pre-order and has a website and everything!
I wrote the book with my good friend and Sprint co-author John Zeratsky. It’s not a business or design book, but it is partly inspired by design sprints. The two of us have struggled with tech distraction and the busyness of modern life for years, and—just as we did with design sprints—we set out to create a framework for finding focus. “Make Time” is that framework.
So instead of being for teams, Make Time is a book for individuals. It’s a sort of do-it-yourself guide, with over 80 tactics you can try out—all of them methods for being less busy and distracted so you can create time for the projects and people that matter most.
The new book comes out September 25, which is still a few months away, so I’ve had my sleeves rolled up in Squarespace and Photoshop to give you a little sneak preview…

Here’s the final book cover design. I’m planning to write up a post explaining how we got here (and how your votes and input helped… seriously thank you.)
And here’s a look at the interior design (well, it’s a simulation… I mocked it up using the publisher’s PDF and a Photoshop template from Creative Market).
There are a bunch more of these mockups on the website, so you can “virtually” flip through the first few pages of the book. It looks a lot better on desktop than mobile, because, of course, the images are bigger.
I’ll share more updates on Make Time over the next few months. But for now I just want to say thanks—the folks on this newsletter have been incredibly generous with their time reviewing early versions of the introduction (there are over 1,700 of your names printed in the acknowledgments at the back of the book!) and also putting up with emails like this in what is ostensibly a newsletter about design sprints. So thank you!

—Jake
