Welcome! 🌻

Hello! While I have been managing to talk into the abyss for a while now, it’s wonderful to imagine you sitting at home reading these words. Welcome to Design With — a newsletter about designing with communities, users, citizens, caregivers… It’s about designing with people, not for them. Thanks for being here.

I started this newsletter to:
  1. Challenge myself to putting thoughts into words which others may(!) possibly(!) read.
  2. Build a community, especially inclusive of designers and researchers who are newer or less-experienced — I hope this newsletter can be a starting point for us to share resources, hold each other accountable, and push one another forward, together.
Text: It's about designing with people, not for them.

What to expect
Design With will feature things I’m reading, listening to and thinking about. Topics might include: when does design language fail, participatory mapping in city planning and what might racial justice look like within a user research practice. There will be an abundance of links paired with short summaries; and the newsletter will often include work from people who I admire and regularly follow, like Alpa, Sasha, Kelly, Ben and Lade.
Next week we’ll jump right into it, see you there!
Thanks ✿
If you simply reply to this email, I’d love to hear what you’re hoping to get out of this newsletter. Also, maybe forward this to a friend or colleague?
Did you enjoy this issue?
