Interestingly, I reached the third week of development. Historically, between three to four weeks, if I haven’t finished the core systems of a game, I start questioning myself: is this game too big? Why did I start building it to begin with? Am I still going to achieve my goals by building this game? - and very often, I end up dropping incomplete systems for smaller, easier games.
For Frontier Planet, I actually thought I could complete the core systems in a week. turns out I’m partly through the second of roughly nine systems. The game is much, much bigger than I hoped; I can’t easily prototype it; I still find it interesting to build for the moment, so inshaAllah the final game will prove fun.
And traditionally, around the third to fourth week, I begin thinking of simple, easy ideas to make. I came up with a couple of ideas, but none of them show the potential of being small, fun, with a good Islamic story, and hooks. For now, the plan is to keep going, and inshaAllah find a small side-project to work on (maybe with others).
That’s all for this week, thanks for reading that essay! As usual, don’t hesitate to let me know your thoughts!
