The IT: Chapter Two trailer has me excited about the movie. The adaptation from 1990 did not include the kids all grown up in it. Instead, it focused on the events that the kids experienced in the novel. I haven’t read the book before, so I’m in the process of doing so now. From what I’ve read so far, it looks like there will still be some changes in this, but when a book is over 1,000 pages long, changes for an adaptation are expected.
The first portion of the trailer focuses on Beverly, as played by Jessica Chastain, and her visit home is not at all what she thought it would be. It’s not just a creepy Pennywise that we’ll see and I love that. You can see that Beverly is slowly figuring out that something is wrong throughout her entire visit with Mrs. Kersh.
One difference seems to be that Beverly is not married, which she is in the novel. If that is the case, it’s a decision that I can get behind. Her husband in the book is horrible, to say the least. While there’s no mention of any of this in the trailer, she has no wedding ring on, so I’m hoping that’s the case.
In the latter part of the trailer, clips start to go by at a much faster pace. We see a lot of blood, the Losers’ Club back together again, Pennywise being creepy as always, and a ton more. It’s safe to say that I’m pretty excited for this. I’ll be rewatching IT: Chapter One before this comes out and while it’ll be quite some time before I get to a full episode on it for Chat Sematary, I just might have to do some sort of first reaction bonus episode.
