If you follow the podcast, you might know that I have another one that covers Stephen King’s book and adaptations. Chat Sematary was started simply because I needed a way to motivate myself to read through the books in chronological order (and because I happen to like podcasting). While this isn’t the first time I’m diving into horror by any means, it’s the first time that I’ve done so on this scale. Not only am I reading King books and watching the movies, but I’m also diving into other horror movies and TV shows more.
The upcoming episode of Welcome to Geekdom is about The Haunting of Hill House and I absolutely loved the show. I’ve also seen Halloween and Hereditary somewhat recently. It’s a genre that has such a wide variety of styles that I find it more and more intriguing. Both Netflix and Hulu have a decent catalog of horror things to watch, but I’m thinking that the next step for me will be to check out Shudder and dive even deeper.
I’m not looking for movies that just end up being a gore-fest because I’ve seen that horror can go much deeper than that. There are plenty of slasher films out there, and I’ll check those out, too. However, I’m looking forward to engrossing myself in the genre even more than I already am. Don’t worry, I’ll still have thoughts on all things superheroes. If anyone has any horror suggestions, please feel free to let me know by replying to this email.
