October 2020 Frigid Light Photography Newsletter

October! One of my favorite months of the year. The heat has broken here on the Cape and we’ve been able to sleep with the windows open and the A/C off for the last week or so. It’s glorious.

Standup Paddleboarding
I picked up (another) new hobby this summer: standup paddleboarding. A friend and I purchased inflatable paddleboards from Bote and have been getting out at least once a week with the goal of paddling the distance to Nantucket: 30 miles. As of October 1 we’re at 21 miles or 71% of the way there so we’ve got some work to do before winter really sets in.
I’ve enjoyed exploring parts of the Cape that I’ve never seen before. We’ve paddled at Scorton Creek (above) where I’ve been walking my dog for years but had never seen the marsh up close before.
We’ve also explored ponds across Marstons Mills and Hyannis and paddled up the Bass River. I always enjoy doing “Cape Cod vacation” activities like this and I’m going to see how far into the winter I can go without suffering too much.
New Panorama Greeting Cards
After a bit of a delay I now have panorama greeting cards ready to ship for $2.95 each. I love the impact of a panorama image and these 60lb matte linen textured cards look fantastic. I hand title and sign each card. Check them out at the link below 👇
October Phone Wallpaper
My wallpaper this month comes from Lincoln, NH. At the very end of September I took an overnight non-photography trip to New Hampshire but couldn’t help doing a few hikes to see the stunning fall foliage around Franconia Notch.
This former New Haven line Budd RDCA #140 sits on the Hobo Railroad property in Lincoln. On this particular morning it was backdropped by a stunningly colorful copse of trees. Click the image to download it onto your phone.
That’s all for October! I’m heading up to Acadia National Park this coming weekend so I hopefully should have some beautiful photos from Maine to share next month.
Thanks for reading,
David
