Belief Networks a.k.a Bayesian Networks (BNs) are coming back. If you have well known priors and medium-sized data  -like most business in real life- you can learn from data under uncertainty with BNs. Several years ago I met John and I invited him to give a talk at DSL. Afaik his Introduction to Bayesian Networks is awesome. If you’re interested in Bayesian tools and stuff also check out MS Bayesian Editor & Toolkit.
Is the tropical London weather knackering you? I suggest you find some shade, grab a pint of chilled beer and read Philosophy, Computational Complexity and Time Travel (pdf)
