When I started Data Machina I thought: Well… maybe a few people will read it, but I’ll try my best. It turns out that 145 issues and 2 ½ years later more than 7,950 people read Data Machina every week.
I’ve received amazing feedback, kind donations, awesome tips, and fantastic suggestions from you. I’ve met lots of new friends and learned a lot - I mean like a lot!- thanks to you all!
Today Data Machina is moving to a new platform, Substack. This will sort out a lot of operational, technical, donations, spam, issues I’ve experienced with other platforms in the past. I’m also introducing paid subscriptions. After March 1, you’ll have two options to susbcribe:
1. FREE subscription: Receive a short version of Data Machina every two weeks. Current subscribers, don’t need to do anything to receive the free version
2. PAID subscription: Receive the full version of Data Machina, featuring new content and insight, every week of the year.
To receive the paid version of Data Machina, you will need to confirm your paid subscription with your current subscriber email.
If your university or company team would like to purchase group subscriptions
(minimum five people) at a discounted rate, please contact me at email@example.com
To be honest, many of you that know me well and keep in regular contact, know that I’ve been fighting (perhaps too radically) against introducing paid subscriptions since long time ago, despite many of you telling me I should do the contrary.
There’s been a lot of massive ups, and also some down moments when I thought I didn’t have enough time available during the weekends and enough mental energy to continue, as I considered to stop publishing Data Machina… But just then when I was about to quit:
“Hey my friend! I just sent you a donation of $250 so that you can cover DM server costs. I’ve learned a lot reading Data Machina, which is now my first place to go for ML news. Now this my turn and my way to say Thank you! for your hard work. Please don’t stop ever.”
Wow just wow! I-just-love-the-Internet!
So I won’t stop. By introducing paid subscriptions, I will strive to improve DM further, add new features and new insight, curate even more useful content and make it available to you 52 weeks a year consistently.
Now, for the price of three coffees a month, you can help me invest more time in making DM better and more awesome, free of advertising, sponsorships, platform issues, or conflicts.
Thanks for your great tips, amazing feedback, and lots of messages with love and support from you.
Thanks for sticking with me over the years.
