The circus elephant is born and tied to a stake in the ground. It goes its entire life performing, and it understands its limits by that which is defined by the circus leader.
The elephant simply needs to walk, in any direction, and it would pull the stake out of the ground.
It can seem like the world wants you to become something else other than yourself. It can seem like the deck is stacked against you. It can seem, seem, seem. You are being perceived, perceived, perceived by illusions that you can dismantle, disarm, and overcome as you continue your journey into the unknown.
What does it mean to ‘step into your power’, as they say?
It means that today, right now, in this moment, I am this version of myself. In five minutes, I will have evolved into the next version of myself. I can place intention behind my evolution by making a declaration such as, “I will create a safe living environment for myself by February 1st.”
I can look into the future, define the person I wish to become, and now I can step inside that frame, or, that context, and begin to embody who that person will be.
It feels similar to trying on a new outfit for the first time. It can feel awkward, look awkward, and result in inner feelings of doubt and uncertainty. I have come to expect those things as normal.
The intention of the Essence Exercise is to create an opportunity for you to raise your self-awareness. I want you to ask three people closest to you, “When I enter a room, what do I bring with me?” This is about your essence - the energy you bring into the spaces you exist within.
