Hello! This month I’ve emerged from ‘winter mode’ and started ramping up my work again. With the sunshine comes an (even) more productive Doug!
I spoke at a couple of events this month, keynoting the Open Badges in Higher Education conference and presenting at the AoC Learning Technology conference on behalf of City & Guilds. Last week the edited video of the talk I gave to Cambridge English in February also went live.
The start of April marks one year since I left my role at the Mozilla Foundation to set up Dynamic Skillset. I’ve had a great time so far, and I’ll have some more (big!) news to announce by this time next month. :)

I’m working slightly less in the first week of April so I can spend more time with my children during the school Easter holidays. I’ll then be working with the Digital Leaders network, continuing my two days per week with City & Guilds, contributing to the Tech Infrastructure for the Future Social Sector Hack, doing some critical friend / consigliere work with a couple of clients, and kicking off some new work with Cambridge English.
As working four days per week is suiting me well, I’ve decided to make this a policy going forward. I’ll be using that day to myself to get up a mountain at least once in April which will count towards the days necessary to start my Mountain Leader award.
