Daily Overview
The Hlaing River passes through an industrial district filled with colorful metal roofs in Yangon, Myanmar. The river has helped Yangon grow into the largest city in the nation, with an urban population of roughly 5.1 million. Myanmar is currently under a year-long “state of emergency” following the military’s coup and seizure of control on February 1, 2021.
