Trakai Island Castle is a 14th century castle in Trakai, Lithuania, located on an island in Lake Galvė. The castle was gradually built and expanded upon until the 17th century, when it was damaged during wartime and not reconstructed, gradually falling into disrepair. A major restoration project began after World War II, helping Trakai Island Castle become the popular Lithuanian tourist attraction it is today. It is the only island castle in Eastern Europe.
