The Great Mosque of Mecca, located in the city of Mecca, Saudi Arabia, is the most important mosque in the religion of Islam. It surrounds the Kaaba, a cuboid stone structure that Muslims believe to the the Bayt Allāh, or “House of God.” It is a site of pilgrimage for the Hajj — which every Muslim must do at least once in their lives — and has a capacity for 1.5 million worshippers, making it the second largest mosque in the world.
