A sewage treatment pond is seen at the Western Treatment Plant in Cocoroc, Australia. This facility treats half of the sewage produced in the nearby city of Melbourne and is nearly 26,000 acres (10,500 hectares) in size — roughly equal to the total area of Disney World. The Western Treatment Plant produces 10.5 billion gallons (40 billion liters) of Class A water, the highest standard of recycled water.
