Daily Overview
Frozen tributaries branch off the Scoresby Sund, a large fjord system on the east coast of Greenland. Its tree-like structure covers an area of approximately 14,700 square miles (38,000 square km), making it one of the largest and longest fjord systems in the world. At the mouth of the Scoresby Sund — roughly 125 miles southeast of this Overview — stands Ittoqqortoormiit, the only permanent settlement in the region with a population of about 450.
