Port Hedland is the largest iron ore loading port in Australia and one of the largest in the world. Located in the Pilbara Region of Western Australia, the port recorded a throughput of more than 519 million tonnes between 2017 and 2018. On December 27, 2017, Port Hedland had its record tonnage on a single tide when eight vessels carried 1,589,061 tonnes through its waters.
