Just off the southwestern corner of Mauritius (shown at the center of this Overview) is what appears to be an underwater waterfall. In reality, it is just the flow of underwater currents and sand patterns on the ocean floor that form this spectacular optical illusion from the aerial perspective. Mauritius is an island nation in the Indian Ocean, roughly 1,200 miles (2,000 km) off the southeastern coast of Africa.
