Hello educator and web3 frens,
As educators, we have seen many fads come and go, especially when it comes to technology. In a recent podcast interview
with AI creative Taryn Southern EdSurge editor Jeffrey Young asked if the hype is real around the metaverse, is there a there there? Her answer was a resounding yes.
There are definitely some hardware limitations at the moment. Adoption of metaverse technology is still years off, maybe 10-20 years. There are also a number of intermediary steps that need to unfold first. Southern argues that there will be an AR technology evolution first before we move to a more immersive metaverse experience.
When listening to these experts I often ask myself, “what does this mean for us as educators?”. The resources for this week provide some ideas for the forward-thinking educator about where we are heading. It also provides a variety of lenses to see where our young learners will fit into this process of cycling into a metaverse-rich world.
It is important that we familiarize ourselves with the skills that these emerging technologies will demand from the next generation. It is also important that we understand the trends in the market. Where is the creative energy funneling to? And finally, we need to be able to access hubs of innovation to build relationships for ourselves and students.
