This training class is for Law Enforcement Officers, School Administrators, Educators, Human Resource Professionals, Security Professionals, Mental Health/Health Care Professionals, Counselors, Behavioral Intervention Teams, and threat assessment teams.

In this 8-hour course, you will learn a threat assessment-intervention model that can be used by educators, law enforcement officers, mental health professionals, and others involved in school safety. It outlines a methodical procedure for evaluating a threat and the person making the threat, with the aim of reaching an informed judgment on the danger that threat and how to manage the subject of concern. The basic threat assessment course includes:
  • Threat typology
  • Understanding the motivation behind threats
  • Multi-pronged assessment model
  • Identifying behavior and personality traits that can lead to violent behavior
  • The multi-disciplinary team approach
  • Intervention process and threat management
  • Role of law enforcement
  • Case study review
  • Role-play and tabletop scenarios
Attendees will receive a threat assessment guide and worksheets.
Instructor: Clayton Cranford
Clay Cranford is a sixteen-year law enforcement professional and is a Sergeant for a Orange County law enforcement agency. He has served as a member of the School Threat Assessment Team and the Crisis Negotiation Team. As a juvenile investigator, he has investigated threats, weapon possession, and violent crimes in K-12 schools through out Orange County, California. Clay is a nationally recognized expert on Social Media and author of, “Parenting in the Digital World.”
Clay has more than 20 years of teaching experience and regularly speaks across the United States at school safety and anti-human trafficking conferences. In 2015, Clay was awarded the National Anti­Bullying Prevention Award. Clay is married and a parent to two teenaged boys who love technology.
