Soggy conditions expected Thursday
Soggy conditions expected Thursday
Models have slowed down the timing of the arrival of the cold front across the PNW. This also delays the timing of rainfall in Portland. Instead of rain ending early in the day on Thursday, it now looks like the rain will move into the area in the morning and end in the evening. While area rivers, especially out in Pacific and Wahkiakum Counties are running high, widespread flooding is not anticipated. Snow should be limited to the ski passes and higher elevations with rain expected elsewhere.
High pressure moves in Thursday into Friday with pleasant weather returning. So long, atmospheric river!
Thursday’s weather:
Valley rains with mountain snows
High: 51º, Low: 43º

It wasn’t just sheriffs that assumed they would be paid by a pipeline company as they arrested Indigenous led water protectors fighting Line 3 — a key prosecutor also believed Enbridge would pay for hundreds of prosecutions 1/ by me + @MinneapoliSam
Line 3 pipeline protestors, or water protectors, face felony charges in Minnesota. Prosecutors raising the charges sought reimbursement from Enbridge, the oil company constructing the pipeline, according to ongoing reporting from The Intercept. This comes after Enbridge doled out $4.8 million to cover policing of the pipeline. in August, police responded to protestors with riot gear. They arrested hundreds resulting in numerous injuries.
Water protectors are being charged with “felony theft” for chaining themselves to pipeline construction equipment. According to an attorney representing the pipeline protestors, this is “prosecutorial overkill” and a tactic to discourage future protests.
Water protectors are calling for the charges to be dropped via letter petition to Minnesota Attorney General and Governor.
Unicorn Riot
Three grandmothers locked down to a #Line3 pipe yard gate on July 2, 2021 in northern MN, stopping pipe transportation for 3 hours. They received felony theft charges, which is the 3rd time water protectors received that escalated charge in the 7+ years of Line 3 resistance.

Currently weather alert: Unusually cold weather is expected across the Northeast on Tue & Wed. This will be the coldest air in ~2yrs.

Prepare today: Leave a faucet running at a drip to prevent water lines from freezing. Know where your main water shutoff valve is, just in case.
