Pleasant Wednesday, but cold front brings rain overnight
Pleasant Wednesday, but cold front brings rain overnight
Expect moisture from the atmospheric to drift northward into the Olympic Peninsula and British Columbia overnight. As the rain moves out this evening, pleasantly dry weather with mostly cloudy skies will prevail in Portland through much of the day on Wednesday. As the low-pressure system driving the river moves inland, it will drag a cold front through our area overnight. This cold front will bring periods of rain lasting through just about lunchtime on Thursday.
Wednesday Forecast:
Mostly cloudy with overnight showers
High 55°, Low 44°

BREAKING: Buenos Aires, Argentina 🇦🇷 falls into darkness as intense heat pushes infrastructure beyond limits.

This is one of the hottest temperatures in recorded history for the city. Unfortunately, this is only the beginning of a brutal & historic heatwave in South America. https://t.co/OUi1CQ1gAY
The heatwave emergency in Argentina dramatically escalated as a major power grid failure left thousands without electricity on Tuesday. Argentina’s capital city, Buenos Aires, recorded its second-highest temperature on record at 41.1 Celsius (105 Fahrenheit), according to the National Meteorological Service in Argentina.
Power companies reported outages as demand for electricity increased, in order to cool homes in the extreme heat. Temperatures above 40 Celsius (104 Fahrenheit) will continue to impact the country for the rest of the week. Already, drinking water providers asked citizens to optimize water usage because of power outages impacting water purification systems. This is likely to be an ongoing and potentially devastating emergency.

Power grids in Argentina are failing due to intense heat and plunging parts of Argentina into darkness. Buenos Aires registered record heat with 105° on Tuesday. This is just the start of a heat wave for the region. https://t.co/7yV2CXC5jf

Currently weather alert: Unusually cold weather is expected across the Northeast on Tue & Wed. This will be the coldest air in ~2yrs.

Prepare today: Leave a faucet running at a drip to prevent water lines from freezing. Know where your main water shutoff valve is, just in case.
