Chilly start to the week.
*Correction: Due to an editorial error, the incorrect forecast was sent out last night. Below is the correct forecast for today. We apologize for the mishap!*
Takeaways for Chicago’s weather:
1. Feeling Like February Monday
2. Warmer & Wet By Wednesday
3. More Spring Snow Coming?
The chill that was with us over the weekend lingers into Monday with highs only in the middle to upper 30s. Clouds thicken Tuesday with light rain late and highs bouncing back into the middle 40s. The warmest and wettest day of the week will be Wednesday. Highs will climb into the middle 60s with some gusty winds. Showers are likely with a few thunderstorms possible. Temperatures drop dramatically Thursday and light rain may mix or change to light snow during the day. — Tim McGill
What you need to know, currently.
Demonstrators marched on 500 cities around the world on March 25 in the Global Climate Strike, organized by Fridays For the Future— a movement founded by Greta Thunberg.
In 2018, the IPCC released a historic report, warning that the world had roughly twelve years left to prevent the worst effects of global warming. We’re down to eight years now.
World leaders have largely spent the last four years wasting time and carbon emissions are back on the rise after a sharp drop early in the pandemic. What has emerged since that fateful IPCC report is an unprecedented youth movement, demanding change.
This year’s theme was People Over Profit. “In 10 years these kids will be able to run for office,” Sofia Palau, a Bay Area organizer told ABC 7. “If we can’t make change here on the streets we will make change in congress in the future.” —Rebecca McCarthy
