A large storm produced rainfall, hail and a tornado in Sicily today and yesterday, resulting in at least one death and two injuries. This comes less than a month after the Sicily was slammed by a “Medicane”, (or a hurricane-like storm that is smaller and quicker and originates in the Mediterranean).
The region is facing an uptick in more frequent and dangerous weather events over the past several years. In 2021 alone Sicily recorded the highest ever temperature in European history, multiple wildfires, “unprecedented” flash flooding and now a rare tornado.

Floods, sewage and crocodiles: the crisis of the Gambia’s sinking city:

Those living in Banjul’s slums face the effects of a climate crisis they did little to cause – and will need more help than the Cop26 deal promises

https://t.co/cwanx3zVgL
Despite contributing very little to the climate crisis communities in Banjul, a city in The Gambia, are literally sinking due to the changing climate. Low income neighborhoods in the city are experiencing the worst outcomes as extreme rain and floods exacerbate already failing infrastructure and poverty.
People and experts from Banjul say that the promises made by world leaders at COP26 are not enough to save their communities. Read more about the affected communities and solutions in The Guardian.
