The first Spring severe weather outbreak continued to roll through the southern United States on Tuesday. Tornado watches were issued across the states of Louisiana, Mississippi, and Alabama throughout the morning and afternoon hours.
Preliminary reports compiled by NOAA’s Storm Prediction Center (SPC) report one tornado
so far on Tuesday in Vicksburg, Mississippi, as well as nine damaging winds and four hail reports. These numbers will most likely increase as a line of severe thunderstorms with multiple tornado warnings cross into Alabama.
On Tuesday, there were 23 preliminary tornado reports across Texas with one tornado spotted in Oklahoma. In Austin Texas, reporters caught a tornado on live television
crossing the busy intersection of Interstate 35 and State Highway 45 during rush hour.
The official tornado count will not be released until the local National Weather Service (NWS) offices in impacted areas send crews out to survey the storm damage. These storm surveys can often take a few days after large tornado outbreaks.
