Happy Easter - Copenhagen - Issue #73

Issue #72 — View online — Suggest a link

The insider newsletter for tech and startup events in Greater Copenhagen (that means Malmö too).

While you’re hunting for Easter eggs, keep your eyes peeled for a home for meetups and community events in Copenhagen. Our city needs somewhere that provides the space and the pizza/snacks/beer/soda that events require. The status quo means organizers spend forever calling around town for rooms to borrow and for help paying for the food and drink. That time would better spent creating great content and great communities.
At the base of Maslow’s Heirarchy of Event Planning is venue; our events need a place to be. Some argued with the order in last week’s list, so we’ll say next is food and drink, followed by content, i.e. the speakers and workshops, etc. Once all of that is in place, you get a community.
On the other side of Öresund/Øresund, Goto 10 Malmö and Foo Café both provide spaces that do this. If you’ve got a tech/startup event, they’ve got a home for you. It’s a great concept Copenhagen should copy.
An obvious obstacle is that Copenhagen didn’t think of it first. Perhaps creating a twist on the concept would satisfy honor. Either way, Copenhagen needs a solution that does the same thing - covers the base levels of the Heirarchy of Event Planning so organizers can focus on building great communities.
If you’re a startup looking to raise money, keep a close eye on the list of investor events updated by the amazing Zenia Francker, Director of Investments at Digital Hub Denmark.
Please use the “suggest an event” link found at the top and bottom of this newsletter or email nick@thestartupdigest.com to share an event. Complaints and questions about any of the above go to the same address.
