Community Events Need a Home - Copenhagen - Issue #71

Issue #71 — View online — Suggest a link

The insider newsletter for tech and startup events in Greater Copenhagen (that means Malmö too).

Malmö can teach Copenhagen plenty when it comes to startup events. One thing Copenhagen could learn is to provide a home for meetups and community events. Goto 10 Malmö does exactly that. If you’ve got a digital event, they’ve got a home for you. It’s a concept Copenhagen should copy.
Maslow’s heirarchy of events has a couple of basic steps.
  1. It starts with a venue, a place to meet.
  2. It progresses to content, something for people to do. Speakers, workshops, etc.
  3. It usually requires provisions, something to drink and maybe even eat.
  4. Put all of those together, repeat, and eventually you get a community.
Copenhagen meetups are forever on the road. Some do this by design, like CPHUX. For the rest, all the time they spend looking for somewhere to be is time they can’t spend on great content or building their community. That’s a problem Malmö has fixed and one that Copenhagen could fix too.
If you’re a startup looking to raise money, keep a close eye on the list of investor events updated by the amazing Zenia Francker, Director of Investments at Digital Hub Denmark.
Please use the “suggest an event” link found at the top and bottom of this newsletter or email to share an event. Complaints and questions about any of the above go to the same address.
