we designers have all been there: Benchmarking other solutions, getting inspiration from “best practice cases”, copying popular design patterns. While it certainly makes sense to learn from as many sources as possible, with “imitating” design patterns comes the risk of neglecting design context or repeating mistakes that not even tech giants are immune to… see the first link for some interesting examples.
