The Colette Gazette - April 2, 2021
The mission of The Colette Louise Tisdahl Foundation is to improve outcomes of pregnancy, childbirth, prematurity, and infancy, as well as aid in the grieving process through financial assistance, education, and advocacy
Dear {{first_name}},
Happy April! This month is one of my favorites, not just because today is my birthday. It’s also when the weather really starts to become warmer and flowers bloom. I also just found out recently that it is National Month of Hope and hope is such a great word for springtime.
Later this month, we will also commemorate Infertility Awareness Week, something near and dear to my heart since we suffered from infertility and our babies have always been IVF babies. We will be sharing more about this phenomenon that affects 1 in 8 couples as the month progresses. If you want to share your experiences and knowledge, we would love to include it in our Friday Five.
Speaking of Friday Five, I wrote one about five things to know about the foundation. Today, we posted one from our friend Lauren Hagerty from Momtourage Media about five things she wished she knew about parenting. Lauren and I met through our membership with Hey Mama. I wrote an article about my story for her media company and I am so glad that she is sharing part of our story with us.
We will be taking an upcoming break from applications to get caught up, starting April 11 and coming back April 21. We will still process and pay on applications.
Have a fantastic week!

What We're Doing
We have been very busy, helping families in Connecticut, Illinois, Iowa, Maryland, North Carolina, and Texas. During the first quarter of 2021, we have helped 80 families in 16 states, giving away more than $50,000. And with such a busy quarter of activity, we will be taking a short break from applications in order to catch up!
We will take applications through April 10 and then close our applications until April 21. Any applications submitted through April 10 will be reviewed and processed and payments will be made for approved families.
We also will be hosting a video interview series and our first interviewee is Monique Wheeler from Midheaven Acupuncture talking about acupuncture generally, how it can relieve stress, help with fertility, trauma, and answering your questions. Email with any questions. It will remain anonymous and be asked during our video interview which will then be shared to our You Tube channel.
What We're Reading
  1. We love gifts, both receiving and giving them. We also love when gifts are healthy, so for those of you celebrating, you may also love this look at things to put in easter eggs beside candy.
  2. There is always a lot of talk about rainbow babies, about having a child after loss, but it is so important to note that not everyone who suffers a loss has another child. This article from our friends at Still Standing is a great look into the world of not having a rainbow baby.
  3. Britney Spears has been in the news quite a bit, especially after the New York Times documentary about her. Regardless of what you may think, this article looking at how no one helped her as a new mom is fascinating and sheds light on ongoing issues in this country.
In case you missed it...
Last issue’s most clicked link was our first ever Friday Five. Check out Tomeka’s story and what she wish she knew about being pregnant at 40.
We also have two more Friday Fives, one about five things to know about The Colette Louise Tisdahl Foundation and another about five things I wish I knew about parenting.
If you’re interested in writing your own Friday Five, contact us–we would love to hear your perspective!
How We're Feeling
April 10 is National Siblings Day. We know that kids with siblings in NICU or in heaven are particularly amazing siblings and we’d love to hear more about them! If you know a wonderful sibling, nominate them and share why they are killing it on the sibling thing! We will feature stories throughout the day on April 10.
Ways to Help
In honor of our co-founder’s recent birthdays–Mark (3/19) and Michelle (today–4/2), we will be donating $5.23 (Colette’s birthday) to our financial assistance fund for every person who signs up for this newsletter through the end of April. If you have gotten this in a forward, then sign up or if you are already signed up, share it with friends as well!
