🎄"Tis the season to be jolly!“ 🎄
December is here and winter woolies are out. 🥶❄️
Here’s some news before the year is out and an exciting 2022 to look forward to. I’ve been invited to be on the Advisory Group for Creative Spark’s Enterprise FabLab from diversity point of view as well as my experience as Maker advocate with Dublin Maker, who are back in Summer 2022! 🙌
And can you believe Silicon Republic is 20 years now, and they celebrated online with this video and since 2013, they launched Women Invent to highlight amazing females in areas of STEAM who are normally under the radar, here’s an article to revisit ”Women Invent and the power of media representation“.
I’ve also joined TOG Hackerspace as a member after so many years of them support our activities including Dublin Raspberry Pi Jams. They’ve moved to their new space on Kylemore Road and they are currently kitting it out. Lock-picking nights are in-person (limited places), and they still have other virtual events like coding and crafting nights, check out what they are up to (and become a member 🙂): tog.ie
Meetings have begun for the organisers of EuroPython 2022 (who after two postponements) are coming to Dublin, and I’m so excited to be involved. I’m already on their Comms team, but will be more involved onsite especially with all my ideas for workshops and speakers. Follow them on twitter for updates at @EuroPython, and ping me if you want to get involved or have an idea to pass on.
Rural Ireland Tech Advocates” have been busy recruiting ambassadors. If you want to be part of RITA, head over to rita.ie for more info.
Congrats to all the winners at Imirt’s recent Irish Game Awards. Imirt members will be voting for new board on Dec 6 to 20. Curious who’s going to be the next set of awesome people on the board, check this post on "Imirt’s Board Election 2021” post - good luck to them all.

📢 Yip, Coding Grace is back with our first workshop in Jan 2022! It’s a diversity-friendly workshop for non-techie founders as a result of months of discussion and meetings with our advisors Rose Farrell and Padraig O'Brien (and most recently, Fiona McKenna). We are in def in good hands. See below for more information about the workshop.

I cannot say community without all the amazing supporters who have contributed to us all this year, thank you soooo much for your donations, time, advice, and listening ear when times were hard!
If you want to be involved with Coding Grace, there are different ways from offering to mentoring, collaborating, help spreading the word about us, and financial contributions.

We want to make Coding Grace sustainable, our largest expense is our accountant each year. We will continue using Open Collective as well as Github Sponsors and we are open to donations from individuals and corporates. We are not-for-profit and it’s wholly volunteer-based running it.

I’ve made a site that curates these events, and you can find all of this month’s events there. The site is an 11ty site (Nunjucks and TailwindCSS) and deployed via netlify. It’s nothing fancy, but it lists tech events and diversity in tech events around Ireland and Northern Ireland.
🌈 If you want to add an event, you can submit a PR or or an issue on github, Or you can email me at contact@codinggrace.com.
We would love to hear from you
  • what you would like to be informed about
  • if there’s something to share with the community
  • get involved
  • and a few other ways also
