Happy New Year!
I love reflecting and planning after New Year’s. It gives me a chance to sit down and talk to myself.
I have goals and resolutions like most. I still want to get back to my post-pregnancy weight. I want to learn more about design and accessibility. I also want to grow my business, Diversify Tech.
Last year, I learned about focusing on systems rather than goals from Atomic Habits. I came up with a way to get myself to read more. I listened to a book every time I went to pick up my daughter from daycare. The drive is short, 20 minutes. With that, I was actually able to listen to 13 books in total! My goal was to read a book per month.
I’m trying to do the same this year with my other goals. I am looking for processes that will help me succeed. I haven’t figured them out yet but I am experimenting.
I’d love to hear about your goals for this year. Reply and let me know!

P.S. I almost didn’t send this newsletter today. I was feeling grim. I was thinking what is the point when the world is falling apart around us. I found this thread by Ijeoma Oluo helpful. Not doing anything isn’t going to help. I’ve added another resolution for myself this year. I won’t be a passive citizen anymore!

Asking what the best way to get into tech is is the wrong question to ask.
With so many routes into tech, I wouldn't say one route is better than another. Everyone's journey is different.
No matter the route you take, just give your best to it.

Happy New Year!!

I know many of you work on side-projects, projects where you don't have the benefit of a product & design team. I'm betting a bunch of y'all have goals to create something new in 2020!

Thought I'd share a thread with all my favourite resources:
