I accidentally started writing a 5th book this week. It started as the student syllabus for my “Digital Culture” course at Karel de Grote College, but the past few weeks it has spawned and now it looks a lot like a regular book.
Its 20-something chapters describe how the unique visions of historical figures like Ada Lovelace, Alan Turing, or Edward Snowden made a lasting impact on how we view digital technology.
Do you think there’s a broader audience for this type of topics?

The 1915 silent movie version of “Alice in Wonderland”. No special effects - just props and costumes. And oh, no sound either. I couldn’t watch for the full 42 minutes. Can you?

On May 6, 1037, the airship Hindenburg, the largest dirigible ever built and the pride of Nazi Germany, bursts into flames upon touching its mooring mast in Lakehurst, New Jersey, killing 36 passengers and crew-members. The landing was being live broadcast on the radio. The reporter tries to relay what he sees but his voice breaks. A chilling document, now in glorious HD video thanks to AI.
