v3.0.0 First Clerkent Update

Clerkent
Clerkent
Hey there,
This is the first Clerkent update. I’ll be publishing any notable changes to Clerkent in this newsletter from here on, probably once in a few weeks. You can of course take a look at the GitHub repository for the complete list of changes if you are so inclined.

Recent changes
Right now, Clerkent is at v3.0.0. The last notable changes were published a few weeks back and include:
  • ⌨️ Adding Ctrl-Space as a keyboard shortcut
  • 🪄 Auto-selection of jurisdiction when you type in a case citation. Most case citations formats are jurisdiction-specific, like [2022] UKSC 1, so Clerkent can automatically select the right jurisdiction, saving you a click
  • 📩 Automatic renaming of judgments downloaded from eLitigation.sg, i.e. when you click the “Download PDF” button at the top of the page instead of downloading the PDF via Clerkent, Clerkent will still helpfully rename the PDF for you
Coming soon
Moving forward, I plan to continue working on minor features that address annoyances with the legal research process, such as the following:
  • 📩 Extending the automatic renaming to other sites as well, including LawNet, Westlaw, BAILII, LexisNexis, etc.
  • ⚡Allowing you to customise which databases Clerkent checks when searching. This could potentially make searches faster, e.g. if you generally don’t refer to UKIPO cases, there’s no need for Clerkent to search the UKIPO database for every query.
Feel free to let me know if you have questions or there’s something annoying or anything you’d like to see, using this form.
Bye now,
Huey
