My first thought when I received my copy of The Atlas of New Librarianship back in 2011 was, “Oh, man, this book is HEAVY!”
A few weeks earlier, I had watched and livetweeted a virtual session with Dr. R. David Lankes for some conference / webinar / whatever and was so inspired by his message that I reached out to him on Twitter to ask him to be the 7th guest on my burgeoning new podcast (to be honest, I probably just tagged him in a tweet like “Oh, man, I wish I could have @rdlankes on my podcast!” and he responded?). He said yes immediately, and we were off to the races.
Since that time, he has been one of my most frequent guests, a guest host, one of the show’s biggest supporters, and the podcast would probably have ended with episode 100 if not for his intervention (that’s a story for another day). I am happy to say that we’ve developed a friendly relationship over the years and find time to meet up at conferences, when possible.
Thanks for everything, David, and here’s to many more appearances on the show in the future! 🍻
