Site updates and other things…
Welcome back, chaos fam! I hope you had a fortuitous week, and life is swell. If not, I do hope it gets better.
My further adventures into Facespace land are about as shit as I expected. I’ve already been banned twice within a week, once for messing with an obvious racist and another for messing with an obvious misogynist.
Oh well, fuck ‘em if they can’t take a joke.
Things that are in process:
- Trying to build a team so it’s not a one man operation
- Developing content ideas
- Developing podcast
Things that are coming up:
- Site design and development
- Limited marketing
- Designing a subscription model
Things that are done:
- Site will be on the Ghost Pro platform
Discord is live! (Forgot the invite link last time. Derp!)
- Active newsletter engagement. (Please share!)
Building a site and trying to develop something around the ideas of chaos magick is a daunting task. Not only do I want the site to give accurate information and history to those that visit, but I want it to be a work of magick.
This adds a layer of depth that makes this challenging. I honestly don’t know if it can be done adequately by Halloween, but I’m going to give it a shot.
The American Scream
The giant egregore that is the monoculture of humanity, in its truly erratic and somewhat insane fashion, never seems to stop getting even more surreal.
While I can’t speak for what’s happening outside of the borders of my country mostly, I can say if you’re experiencing even a modicum of the weirdness I have over the past year then you’re on the same page with me.
To watch a so-called intelligent species, the masters of our domain, fuck up constantly and consistently on such a routine basis tells me that something will eventually come to a head.
I don’t know how and I don’t know where, but the energy is manic around the globe.
In the States, it feels like a hum just behind your eyes that rattles your brain a bit. It shakes you if you let it, constantly making you feel slightly out of space with everything else.
Friends become enemies, enemies friends, and then everyone for themselves. I can’t help wondering how many times the same cycle has played out before.
It feels like a scream, building to a crashing crescendo. One of rage and ignorance and here you go… here’s the eschaton we all immanetized, for better or worse.
Yay, we did it.
GZS Comix and Zines
One way I plan on paying for the website is by producing comix and zines where the primary subject is magick.
The Last True Mage is a comic I’ve been working on for about a year now and the first collected edition should be ready this summer. I’m going to produce this series as long as I can afford it, so if you dig comics you might like it. I’ll talk more about this in a later newsletter, so I can speak on it in broader terms.
I also plan to make some zines to cover some core chaos magick concepts that are easy to keep handy and share with others if they ask.
Nothing dramatic. The site isn’t meant to be a huge profit generator by any means. Just things that will keep the lights on, mostly.
The Last Word: When Magick is Truly Dangerous
Something I’ve seen over the past few years in CM circles disturbs me a great deal: attempting to use magick to overcome mental health disorders.
Magick is good for a lot of things. Correcting mental health issues is not one of them.
I empathize and sympathize with people dealing with their issues (I’ve had my own in the past and still wrestle with some), but attempting to use magick to treat yourself is the same as using drugs or alcohol… it won’t work and it’ll likely make it worse.
While it may seem to give you a modicum of control over your situation, that is an illusion that can easily be stripped away from you at a moment’s notice, leaving you worse off than before.
CM, in particular, with the ever developing and rotating belief systems you may use it’s easy to understand how someone with, say, crippling depression may end up taking their own life.
Magick is NOT a cure all to every problem you may have in life. It’s pathwork and shadow work and dealing with all the things you’ve been hiding from yourself about yourself in order to empower you to do great things.
If you have mental health issues, please seek appropriate medical attention.
