RISE 2017
Huge, huge success in its 3rd year - thanks to everyone that helped make it so awesome: the speakers, the partners, the startups, the team, Paddy, Craig, Hugh, Jimmy and everyone and most importantly the amazing Hong Kong startup community that threw the most amazing vertical parties ever.
I wrote a post about the secret behind why RISE is such an amazing conference and you can read it here.
Also here are the best news stories and my favorite overall tweets that came from RISE this year. Missed it? Hear all the talks here.
We have confirmed Year 4 for July 8-11, 2018 in Hong Kong.
Shenzhen West
I also visited my hometown of Vancouver recently and dropped by some co-workspaces and saw an amazing ecosystem in the Chinese community of Richmond - mindblown and reinforces how entrepreneurial the Chinese are - laws or not.
SIDENOTE: I’m developing a new kind of cowork startup (not a space) and looking for co-founders with background in property management or community, interested in collaborating? Hit me up here for details.
This newsletter may be a podcast in the future
I attended Podcast Movement 2017 - a conference about the growing business of podcasting. A real eye-opener. As you know I have a podcast and like you old tech-heads, thought the podcast world had come and gone with Odeo - but it’s back and bigger than ever! Read (or listen) to my overview here and my resource list here
