Hi Folks - I’ve been back in Hawaii for a few weeks already after Web Summit and a week of exploring startup ecosystems in Edinburgh, London and Paris.
You may or may not be waiting with baited breath for this so lets just get to it…

Web Summit 2016
Just mind-blowingly amazing! 53,000 people attended. Lisbon was incredible: the people, the food, the streets. But the highlight for me was getting on stage in front of 15,000 people to introduce RISE - and then introducing Gary Vaynerchuk not once but twice to a frenzy of superfans. What a rush!
I promised dim sum for everyone who comes to RISE that was in that room and if RISE does make it onto Gary’s schedule in July 2017 then he and I will host it together!
Hot off the podcast press is this interview I did with China startup connector supreme Jan Smejkal at Web Summit. I haven’t listened to it yet  as I hate the sound of my voice…
The entire Web Summit team on stage! I'm on the far left.
I'm zoned out or a Westworld host under repair - you decide!
Stopped by Edinburgh for Startup Summit talking about RISE and Asia. Very cool event in my favoirte city of all time! 2 unicorns from this magical country too! Fanduel (just merged with Draftkings ) and Skyscanner (just got sold to Ctrip for $1.6 billion).  Great scene, great people!
This is Second Home in Shoreditch - I met the founder on a tuk tuk in Lisbon so dropped by his amazing space when I hit London. I love London. Such a great place with such a strong vibe with so much going on. I think I overdid it with the flat whites though.
We are The Family
Quick stop in Paris to meet with accelerators, co-workspaces and investors and news of the biggest startup campus in the world called Station F. Thanks to Michyl Culos from Parisianist who was an amazing connector. She makes me want to connect people even more. Go to her site if you need tips on Paris.
Dropped by hometown Vancouver to check out the startup scene there and met some cool people at Wavefront, Highline, BCIC and an invite to the BCTech Summit in March. My superconnector in YVR is Lauren Robinson follow her for info on the entire Canadian startup scene.
Back in Hawaii now and the main focus is the East Meets West 2017 startup conference in January. bringing out some of my friends from Asia like Tak Lo, James Giancotti, Stefan Jung - if you want to hang out with me in Hawaii AND do some work, come by for this event Jan 19-20 right before CNY.
Other Hyperpop...
That grey area...
Westworld - I loved the 1973 movie and I love this version.
Mr Robot S2 - this show is insanely cool. The way its shot and the music is incredible.
Young Animal <3 Shade the Changing Girl is my favorite of this new DC Comics line. Also finally reading The Incal. Also normal books like the new Tim Ferris book and Ready Player One. And yes The Princess Diarist too.
Rogue One tickets for IMAX 3D have been bought for this Thursday.
Cool - that’s it for now, let me know if you want me to deep dive on any of this for the next newsletter.
