Important news in the telecare space this week.
Communicare247, a fully-digital telecare outfit, has won a £130,000 grant to roll out ‘Project Liberty’.
Project Liberty supports people at home using Alexa’s, smartwatches, and IoT devices. The Glasgow based project is limited to a small number of participants, although there are around 9,000 telecare users in the city, and it’s plausible that the platform would grow nationally.
Communicare247’s CEO, Tom Morton, said:
“A telecare system that uses Alexa and smart watches is a game changer. We are integrating common and easy to use consumer products along with IoT sensors and innovative telehealth monitoring in an existing data-led system that reports to carers, family members and emergency services as required.”
(My bolding)
‘Easy to use consumer products’ is a crucial insight. Leveraging high quality ‘known’ devices, such as Alexa’s, will reduce tech-redundancy and increase adoption (people are comfortable with Alexa’s in their homes).
