Morning innovators
When Google launched search, they were servicing an unmet need. The internet was getting bigger, and, consequently, it was becoming harder to navigate.
Google got going with a functional (if a little janky) product. There was no political filibustering at launch, nor any reports calling for the digitisation of search. There were no strongly worded memos or any realisations about the need to modernise.
Page and Brin saw a job to do and subsequently did it.
Another report just came out, calling for the need to modernise the health and care sectors by adopting tech.
Here’s an extract.
“The insight gained from the roundtable discussions and interviews revealed that there is a tremendous desire to embrace the new possibilities of enhancing health and care using technology and data. We need to remove the institutional and systemic barriers in working efficiently for patients and healthcare professionals and improve the widening health inequalities.”
While we will never know the impact of these reports, I don’t think their repeated publication will cause an innovation earthquake.
There must be a better way to incubate innovation.
Until tomorrow
Hector
