Bellator 282
This week Bellator MMA announced that they would be returning to the Mohegan Sun Arena for Bellator 282. This is their go-to location on the East Coast and they did some limited capacity last time they were there, and tickets just went on sale today so, it’s a nice sign that we’re getting back to normal.
Why am I writing about it?
Well, if you have been following my work you know when most MMA promotions come to my neck of the woods I try to cover them on site. Especially when it’s Bellator.
COVID-19 was declared a pandemic on March 11, of 2020. Two days before that I was at there press conference in New York City, by that Thursday the event and everything they announced was cancelled and I was fighting on the phone canceling things as I was booked to be there. If all goes well, I should be at this one. Read about the event and bout details over at MyMMANews.

RIZIN Also Looking Good

Per a press release from @rizin_English, "Starting April, we hope to bring in more international fighters to boost the roster. Still many restrictions but slowly want to add more international fighters.”- RIZIN CEO Nobuyuki Sakakibara #RIZIN_TRIGGER3 #RIZIN35 (📸@rizin_PR) https://t.co/JqdWhTBIRv
This is some piggyback off of Bellator’s recent press conference, but at the end of March, RIZIN Fighting Federation said they were looking to expand their roster to start adding more international fighters again. Coker said in the Los Angeles Press conference on Monday, he and RIZIN CEO Nobuyuki Sakakibara are supposed to meet when Bellator goes to Hawaii next week.
If you remember they co-promoted Bellator/RIZIN events together with Kyoji Horiguchi capturing both promotion’s bantamweight titles before he had to vacate both due to injury. Then, a pandemic came so this is a good move to make MMA fun again.
Check out what else Coker said about Bellator’s plans with RIZIN and events in Brazil:

Lastly, you probably noticed I didn’t publish anything last week.
Well, I was supposed to be in Las Vegas for the ADCC 2022 West Coast trials to help support my friend and training partner, Nate Ray. We never left New Jersey unfortunately.
Ray and I were delayed nearly six hours, sitting on the runway at Newark Airport by Spirit Airlines who eventually canceled our flight, and told us they could not get us there until Saturday, which was too late since that was the first day of competition.
It takes about six hours to get from Jersey to Vegas so all Ray’s training and hard work went in the toilet thanks to Spirit Airlines. So, I spent the week moping around feeling bad for Ray, who handled it like the competitor he is. I went in on Spirit Airlines when I did the podcast for our UFC 273 picks, so you can check that out here.
If Jiu-Jitsu teaches you anything, it’s to stay present and move forward. So here’s to moving forward.
