MMA Scribbles Newsletter-IT'S TIME! - Issue #35

MMA Scribbles Newsletter
You can stop crying about no UFC’s now.

Not that it should matter because there has been plenty of MMA and grappling to watch.
But enough about that since that was part of last week’s newsletter. This week, we got some fights to watch and they get going mid-week right on YouTube with Invicta FC 45.

This card is only six-fights, which is perfect for a mid-week card. We get to watch some new fights and hopefully get to bed early enough to not be too tired the next day. The main event is a rematch between Jessica Delboni and Invicta FC Atomweight Champion, Alesha Zappitella. The first one, lets just say was questionable so it makes sense that they’re running it back on their first event of the year.
Interestingly enough, two of the ladies on the card I have had the pleasure of interviewing in speaking to them about their journeys just before the fights got booked.
Monica Franco will be facing Hailey Cowan who is making her Invicta FC debut coming from LFA. It’s a fight they both made themselves because they both wanted to get going so I’m calling “Fight if the Night” on this one. Check out my piece on Franco over at MyMMANews.

The second fight is one young lady after my own heart when it comes to hustling for what you want. Shamir Peshewa runs her own non-profit, opened a gym just before the pandemic started and not only survived, but thrived while helping other people obtain their fitness goals. She once co-hosted the podcast with me, and came on as guest this past July where she told us she was ready to get back to fighting.

Everyone is writing about this card because it’s the first one back after the UFC’s break for holidays. No. 5 ranked Calvin Kattar versus No. 8 ranked Giga Chikadze is a good main event and I think both guys have what it takes to finish each other. At the time I’m writing this, current odds have Kattar as a +200 underdog against Chikadze who is a -250 favorite.
The undercard’s got some sleepers on it too, lets hope it holds together given the COVID situation and UFC testing protocols that could have a fight removed right up until weigh-ins.
It’s a good week everybody! Enjoy!
