In keeping with the theme of the growth of MMA, the Professional Fighters League (PFL) closed out their 2021 season on Wednesday night. Some new champions were crowned while some of the 2019 champs were able to pick up their second, million-dollar checks. What’s funny about this is, the current state of MMA fandom already starts talking about “Will they go to the UFC next?” Probably not.
If the former UFC/Bellator fighters not renewing their contracts went over the people asking that question heads, the million dollar pay checks should answer that for you.
Antonio Carlos Junior who many fans know as “Shoe-face”, is one of this recent season’s winners. He won $1-million-dollars, plus he got paid to fight during the season and the PFL allows fighters to secure sponsors too. I don’t think the question is if the UFC will call them, I think with every PFL season that passes, it is, Will the fighter want to pick up the phone?
