MMA Scribbles Newsletter #Bellator269 (AKA: Fedor Fight Week) - Issue #27

MMA Scribbles Newsletter
It’s Fedor fight week dammit!

Bellator 269
Fedor Emelianenko fight week and everyone’s worried about Paulo Costa and Marvin Vettori’s weight! Fedor’s the greatest heavyweight to ever fight in MMA for as long as I’ve been a fan. My partner over at Coast-2-Coast Combat Hour would have worn his Fedor sweater this week if he wasn’t on the way to a BKFC event.
But that’s beside the point. This is Fedor’s first fight since 2019 when he defeated Quintin “Rampage” Jackson at Bellator 237. He was supposed to begin what’s been called his “retirement tour” in 2020 but the COVID-19 pandemic had him sit out until now to do it.
Time off is good but when you’re up there in combat sports years, it could be a plus or a minus depending on the fighter. His opponent, Tim Johnson is the number two ranked heavyweight in Bellator so a win could mean a final title run for “The Last Emperor.”
Either way, it’s another rare Saturday card for Bellator so check out this link over at MMANews for start times and where to watch before they change it.
Bellator 269 Fight Card & Viewing Information
So, my birthday’s this month so I fell behind in some of my work which is why this came out so late this week.
However, I did two projects for One37 PM that I’m particularly proud of having to do with some MMA history and The Ultimate Fighter’s legacy and a list of ONE Championship fighters to watch since it looks like they’ll be making their move in the U.S. soon.
It’s good to take a break for life experiences. You only get one so these breaks are healthy.
Horror Movie Recommendations
I’ve fallen into this cosmic horror/ H.P. Lovecraft vibe so I’m watching The Lurking Fear (1994) on Tubi. I’ll probably make that my next horror movie review but so far, I like it because it’s a goofy horror movie from the 90s. Apparently, Full Moon Entertainment did a few films based on Lovecraft’s work and liked working with Reanimator’s Jeffrey Combs.
Also, Tubi seems to be a great free source of classic horror content so if you’re looking to watch some stuff from 80s and 90s, Tubi’s probably one of the great apps to stream some old horror flicks on. If you didn’t see my review for another Lovecraft based horror flick, check this one out:
