Busse's Weekly Retrospective - Issue #1: It’s decorative gourd season — !

Happy Friday, and Happy October 1st 🎃! Thank you for reading this first issue of my weekly newsletter. I had started this about four years go, then set it aside, and am picking it up again in earnest. My goal is to share things that have “crossed my desk” over the course of the week with the hope that you, gentle reader, will find something interesting or valuable in at least one or two of the things.
I’ve organized this in to eight categories. Since I’m using the “crossed my desk” metaphor, they are loosely organized around professional interests, with a bit of general interest.
The categories are: People, Business, Technology [the three facets of good product management], Inputs, Outputs [things I’m internalizing on a more personal level, things I’m creating], Radar [more niche professional interest stuff than the first three categories, CTAs [Calls to Action, basically anything I’m promoting], and Misc. [general interest]. There is also one hidden Easter Egg link; maybe you’ve already found it? My commentary within the body of the newsletter is formatted in italics.
My goal is to have three items in each category every week. I didn’t quite make it this week as some of my allotted time was used on the content curation workflow to organize all this, which will pay dividends going forward.
I hope you find at least one new and interesting thing here, and welcome your feedback. - Busse []

This thread on “Promotion Driven Development” is an interesting one, especially if you’re familiar with the management idea of “the higher you go in an organization, the more results you should drive through the work of others”.

I haven’t had a tweet go viral in a long time, but this one around Only Murders in the Building was picked up by Selena Gomez fandom Twitter (which I suspect are mostly bots), so I’ve got that going for me. Anyway, you should watch this series…

Tonight’s episode of Only Murders in the Building (“The Boy From 6B“) is one of the better episodes of television I’ve ever watched.
This newsletter itself was a big output for me this week, you’re a little more than halfway through — if you’ve made it this far, consider forwarding to colleagues or friends who might enjoy it, or sent them this link to sign up:
