On Tuesday 23 April 2019, our staff members will meet with dynamic and talented colleagues and a stellar line-up of thought-leaders from a broad range of fields for our biennial staff conference. On this action-packed day our speakers will share excellence in education, best practices and evidence-based research and the latest in school innovation. The staff conference is important because by investing in our staff, we invest in our school and by improving our knowledge, we improve the way we teach. We have 13 external speakers and around 70 internal speakers, ready to share their expertise with us. Here is a sample of some of the workshops that will be delivered:
Dr Kathy Weston- Improving student mental health and resilience: Whose job is it?
In today’s society, educators, and schools, in general, are expected to shoulder the burden of improving students’ mental health outcomes. Building emotional, academic and physical resilience in students can also often be seen as the job of teachers. This workshop suggests practical ways in which schools can build parental capacity and resources so that a child’s well-being becomes a matter of concern and interest for all parties.
