At BSN, we are constantly evaluating our practices and procedures to ensure they are still working effectively and if not, we adapt. We champion new ways of working and embrace new technologies, be it translanguaging in the classroom or new HR and Recruitment tools. We try to stay ahead of the curve and if possible, support local start-ups. That drive led us to Cammio, a young, innovative, Netherlands-based organisation providing video interview technology. 

We use video interviewing to enhance our recruitment process; candidates longlisted for a position are invited to complete an automated, recorded interview at any convenient time before the deadline. Candidates have an opportunity to bring their CVs to life and a lot of time that would be spent creating a schedule is saved; it’s especially convenient for international candidates in different time zones. Having a recorded, automated interview can be a strange experience—talking to your device—however, one of the best features of Cammio is the ability to record ourselves asking the questions—which we hope makes the experience a bit more friendly and personal.

It was only after we agreed to a partnership with Cammio that we realised quite how local they were—our offices are actually on the same street in The Hague! Our Customer Success Manager, Jeroen Smits, doesn’t even need to put on a jacket when he come to visit. We asked Jeroen to tell us a bit more about the future of video interview and what it is like to work with BSN:

At Cammio, we’re constantly working at improving our platform. Our most recent product launch has been the pitch widget, a tool that allows candidates to record a video interview without leaving the career page. We want to help recruiters find the person behind the cv, and we do that by adding personality to the recruitment process. The candidate’s personality shines through in their video, and is furthermore analysed by the Xpress Analytics tool. By extracting a unique combination of tonality and linquistic analysis, Cammio provides individual personality profiles for each candidate based on the BIG5 (personality traits) model. New hires are fed into the matching algorithm to give it a deep learning capability to predict the right match with more accuracy and less bias.

It’s been great to see BSN use automated and live interviews in various stages of their application process. Much like Cammio, BSN is always looking to evolve and improve, and working together has helped us do just that. We’ve been able to make improvements and add new features based on their feedback. We’re very excited for our ongoing collaboration and we’re sure to get great feedback and and suggestions for new functionalities.

My top tip for a great video interview – candidates can do a practice interview on our candidate support page, this is a great way to get used to the technology and to being on camera.
