We’ve almost completed a second week of working from home (though, it feels like much longer). It’s tough, but we’ve got this! We are making it work.
What’s been helping?
-
Technology (no surprise here): utilising tech that supports remote teaching/learning and connects students to teachers. e.g. leaving verbal feedback using the built in audio recorder on OneNote; continuing our staff meetings via Micosoft Teams
-
Free teaching resources: there plenty around including Khan Academy, BBC Bitesize, Mathematics Mastery etc
-
Mental Health awareness: encouraging each other not to neglect our mental health or that of our children by sharing tips, advice, blogs etc
-
Age-appropriate Corona virus resources: help alleviate fear and anxiety; here’s a good ’explanimation’.
-
Indoor fitness: tuning in to PE with Joe Wicks, who holds a daily virtual PE lesson on his You Tube Channel, or setting up a circuit in the garden; going for runs and bike rides (while maintaining social distance)
-
Establishing a routine: structure is key
-
Creating a dedicated home office space and making it joyful
-
Being creative: coming up with new ways and new resources to engage children in learning; devising ways of keeping children occupied and finding alternative sources of entertainment.
-
Online entertainment: yes Netflix, but also virtual museum tours and book readings
-
Focusing on the positives; the affect of Corona virus measures on the environment; also, Spring flowers and sunshine ☀️
This is not an exhaustive list. The main thing that has been helping us through is each other: staying connected, appreciating each other, sharing our experiences and a wealth of resources. You can find examples at the end of this newsletter and on Twitter directly: BSNtogether

It may occur that there will be some delay to our recruitment processes. All our recruitment procedures will continue as usual, except for live panel-interviews. All live meetings will be cancelled or postponed, as we do not wish to put any unnecessary pressure on applicants to travel or expose themselves or others. In order to conclude recruitment processes, some vacancy holders may decide to proceed to final interview via video interviews, relevant candidates will be notified.
