One of the challenges we faced as a school with multiple sites is ensuring alignment and consistency across our campuses. Over the years, our individual schools had been using different systems and different learner-type profiles. Our aim was to become one-school with a shared Values System. Recently, after a lot of hard work, this aim has been achieved. All schools have been successfully brought together by the creation of the ‘BSN Character Profile’.
Mr Jonathan Clarke, one of the BSN’s Senior Leaders, had taken on the challenge. After a full year’s work and research, he brought together a knowledgeable and enthusiastic team to help bring the BSN Character Profile to life. This team included staff from across all the schools and also the BSN’s Communications department. The overall aim was that every single stakeholder within the BSN, whether three years old or eighty years old; whether student, staff or supporting family member, would know and be impacted, on some level, by this new Character Profile.
It is a system which we hope will help guide the attitudes, efforts and future aspirations of all our students from 3-18 years of age, and will be something that they will take with them beyond their time at the BSN.
The Character Profile has starred in lessons, assemblies, multiple displays across all the school sites, parental engagement and information evenings, web pages, periodical magazines, musical performances, end of year student reports. It has even inspired the creation of costumes and cuddly toys based on each of its eight profiles – Curiosity, Courage, Compassion, Digital responsibility, Creativity, Environmental integrity, Collaboration and Perseverance.
