That what I’ve decided to do with the Comarketing Space
community that I started over a year ago. It’s now on Facebook—and I encourage you to join if you’re interested in keeping up with the latest marketing techniques, seeking help from fellow marketers and finding marketing resources.
I tried hard to convince people to use a different platform (Mighty Networks), which everyone loved from a functionality standpoint. But it proved too tough to adopt—vs. the 800-lb. gorilla of Facebook. Plus, it cost money. I like free.
I consider the time spent using Mighty Networks a worthwhile experiment. Now, I can definitively recommend not deviating from the norms if you are starting a community, unless you have a significant number of loyal followers who will do whatever you tell them to.
Let’s face it, we’re all creatures of habit, and the network effects and benefits of Facebook are just too powerful. So for the foreseeable future, it remains the No. 1 place to build and scale online communities.
